Part-Time Media Sales Representative

Colorado Springs Kids Magazine is looking for someone to sell advertising space in the Pikes Peak region's go-to family publication. We publish a free monthly print magazine, run coloradospringskids.com, send a monthly newsletter to local parents, and maintain directories (Summer Camps, Sports, Birthday Parties, Schools) that families use year-round.

What You'll Do
  • Prospect and close local businesses on print, web, newsletter, and social media advertising
  • Pitch advertising packages using our established rate card and media kit
  • Build relationships with business owners across Colorado Springs, Monument, Fountain, and surrounding communities
  • Upsell digital add-ons (website banners, social media posts, newsletter sponsorships, directory listings) alongside print placements
  • Manage your own pipeline and follow up with prospects through the close

What You're Earning On
Our rate card ranges from $203/month (quarter page, annual contract) to $982 (full page, single edition), with digital add-ons from $99 to $250. Every print ad includes free digital publishing, free advertorials, and free calendar/guide listings, giving you real value to hand a hesitant prospect.
A full-page annual contract pays you $1,646 in commission. A solid month of six closes puts roughly $3,000 in your pocket.

Commission Structure
  • 20% on print advertising (all sizes and terms)
  • 25% on digital and sponsored content (website banners, social posts, newsletter sponsorships, standalone guide/calendar listings)
  • 10% on renewals of accounts you originated
  • $250 bonus each time you cross another $10,000 in written new business
  • On multi-edition contracts, 50% of your commission is paid when the first payment clears; the balance pays out as remaining editions collect
  • Monthly payouts on the 15th covering the prior month's collections

Compensation Range (Colorado Equal Pay for Equal Work Act Disclosure)
This is a commission-only position with no base salary or hourly rate. Estimated annual earnings range from $45,000 to $60,000 or more, depending on your sales volume and the mix of print and digital advertising you sell. A rep consistently part-time closing six accounts a month at a mix of sizes and terms earns roughly $3,000/month ($36,000 annualized). Reps who build a larger book or land higher-value annual contracts can exceed $60,000. There is no cap on sales.
This range is a good-faith estimate based on current advertising rates and is not a guarantee of earnings. Actual earnings depend entirely on individual sales activity.
Other compensation: $250 milestone bonus for each $10,000 in cumulative written new business.

This is an independent contractor (1099) position. As an independent contractor, you are responsible for your own taxes, insurance, and business expenses.
