Nature Adventures: Rockin' Raccoons

$3 per person including adults, children, and accompanying siblings 2 and over. If the only child coming is under 2 years old, that child will need to be registered. Prepaid registration required. To avoid problems with your reservation, please register all members of your party at once, including yourself. This is not a drop-off program. There will be no refunds for cancellations for failure to attend. Refunds will be offered if the Nature Center cancels the program. Online registration will be unavailable 2 hours before the program.

Young children, with an adult, will enjoy activities to help them learn about and enjoy nature. We learn something different each meeting!

2s & 3s Outdoors is designed for two and three year-olds. We will explore nature together through interactive activities, a story, and an easy hike.
Nature Adventures is designed for three to six year-olds. We will enjoy a puppet show or story, hands-on activities, a craft, and discovery time on the trail.

Have you ever wondered what makes falcons the fastest animals in the world? Can owls really turn their head all the way around? Birds of prey have fascinated humans for thousands of years and have been important symbols (both positive and negative) in cultures throughout the world. This program on raptors in Colorado will introduce participants to these fascinating animals by discussing their unique adaptations, their individual hunting strategies, and their conservation challenges.

Join us in celebrating the spirit of the holidays at our Holiday Market!

Catch up on your holiday shopping while browsing our selection of local vendors selling hand-crafted goods out on our winter patio. Try a drink from our special holiday menu, and enjoy a stroll through our property, lit up with lights and illuminations for the season. Then come back to our cozy fireplace to listen to songs and stories with a local Santa.

Parking is limited, and this will be an outdoor event, so please dress warmly and carpool in if possible.

Homeschool Book Blast

Tell the world about your favorite book! Prepare a creative book report at home and present it informally to other families. You can make a diorama, design a game based on the plot and characters, or make a poster for the movie version. You can even create a book in a bag, make a clothes hanger mobile, or retell the story in comic book format. The possibilities are endless! Projects will be presented in a science fair type format.

Grades K - 12. Registration is required if you want to present. Please register each student who will participate or just drop by to browse the projects and discover your next favorite book!

OCC ChristkindleMarket

The OCC Christkindlmarket is a new, authentic German holiday market coming to Old Colorado City this December. Building on 25 years of success with Denver’s Christkindlmarket, the German American Chamber of Commerce - Colorado Chapter is bringing this festive tradition to life on a cozy, smaller scale with 10 handcrafted wooden huts, authentic German food, drinks, and cultural entertainment. The event aims to create lasting economic impact and community value. Free and open to all, the market prioritizes local partnerships, including local vendors, artists, and performers. With strong community support, the Christkindlmarket is set to become a cherished holiday tradition in Old Colorado City.

3D Printer Badging & Modeling Level 1 (ages 13 – 18)

For teens ages 13 - 18 only. Start your 3D printing and designing journey with PPLD!  We will create and print custom projects using Tinkercad, a free online 3D design software. No previous experience required. After completing this badging class, you will be able to use the 3D printers on your own during makerspace open hours at East, Library 21c, and Sand Creek libraries. Participants will need to sign a waiver for anyone between the ages of 13-18 to use the 3D printers independently.

Please set up a free Tinkercad.com account before attending.

If you are unable to attend this badging class or would like to be badged as quickly as possible, a virtual badging option is available. Please contact one of the makerspaces at East, Library 21c, or Sand Creek libraries for more information.

While this class is restricted to teens, classes for anyone age 9 and older are available. See tiny.ppld.org/3d-printing for the full schedule of 3D printing classes.
