Run to the Shrine
Cheyenne Mountain Zoo invites world-class runners and families alike to join in this event. Both the 5K and the 10K options curve through the zoo and some of the most stunning mountain scenery this side of the Rockies. The races conclude with a party at The Lodge at Moose Lake! A great opportunity for competitive racers, casual walkers, as well as families and children eager to show their enthusiasm for the zoo, the Run to the Shrine offers the coveted opportunity to traverse Shrine Road via foot, the only time of the year when foot traffic is allowed. A Look at Books

Summer is a great time for reading, and don’t forget to continue reading aloud to your children even after they are reading independently. Nancy Maday, the Children’s Services Manager at the Penrose Library shares with us some novels for upper elementary children - all set in the summertime which would be excellent choices for your kids this summer!

19th Annual Hummingbird Festival
North Cheyenne Cañon Park (Friends of Cheyenne Cañon and the City of Colorado Springs) is hosting this event with fun for the whole family. Activities will included hummingbird programs, live birds of prey, educational and nature product vendor, children’s crafts and face painting, magic shows, carnival games, hummingbird native plant sale, food, silent auction to benefit the cañon, Ute tipi and six live bands! Donations accepted for admission to this wonderful experience. Free parking and shuttle bus will be available from the Cheyenne Mountain High School, 1200 Cresta Road. Twos & Threes Outdoors – Frog & Friends
Share in the joy of your 2 or 3 year-old child’s discovery as he or she enjoys a story and an exploration hike outdoors at theFountain Creek Nature Center. The cost is $3.00 for each participant including adults and siblings and reservations are required. It takes place from 9:00 - 10:15 am. Click for contact information and other great events!

The Academy of Children's Theatre (ACT) presents a fun and fanciful musical production that incorporates many of Dr. Seuss’ favorite characters including The Cat in the Hat, Horton, Mayzie, Gertrude, The Whos and the mischievous Wickersham Brothers. This show is wonderful for the whole family and children of all ages! Tickets are $10.00 and it takes place at Rock Auditorium, 4005 Lee Vance View.
